Alumni are the face of the college to the world. An educational institute is known by the progress of its alumni. It is a matter of pride for the Government Polytechnic Porbandar to connect to its alumni through this portal.The Government polytechnic Porbandar was established in the year 1960. This polytechnic having state of art infrastructure includes the various academic building for the diploma courses and learning resource utilization center. The Polytechnic Campus having workshops, flag hosting ground and also available Playground for students’ activity. For accommodation of students from outside Porbandar district, separate boys and girls hostel facilities are available in the college campus itself.
This college run under the DIRECTORATE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATIONAL, GANDHINAGAR. There are four basic engineering branches Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and computer Engineering is available for diploma studies.
Alumni Association for Welfare of Polytechnic Porbandar (AAW) was established in year 2021 with an aim to exchange ideas, spread knowledge, stimulate thinking among the alumni and help government polytechnic Porbandar to provide excellence in the field of Engineering.
An alumni is the best connecting link between what is taught at an institute and what are therecent developments on the field.
The purpose of the activity was as follows:
• To connect the alumni back to the institute so as to enable creation/strengthening of the database at institute level
• To use the expertise and experience of the alumni for bridging the gap between industry and academia and make our students industry ready
• To enable strengthening/modification of syllabus if any
• To arrange site / industrial visits with the support of alumni
• To improve placement scenario for students through knowledge gain and alumni connections
Reunions / Alumni meets are occasions where the alumni not only bond with each other but also the institute and existing staff and students.
Such get-togethers in coordination with the institute are also an occasion to felicitate the distinguished alumni.
The Alumni of the Government Polytechnic Porbandar will strive to attain the following scope and objectives:-
• Enroll students into the database
• Provide permanent alumni e-mail id
• Maintain and grow database
• Provide database access on as-needed basis
• Act as primary interface from GPP to alumni-at-large
• Authorize alumni access to campus facilities
• Administer Distinguished Alumnus Award program
• Administer scholarships and awards
• Solicit alumni funds towards student facilities, projects, etc.
• Promote interactions between visiting faculty and local alumni
• Promote campus and department visits by alumni
• Support networking activities and events including reunions
• Support alumni communications
